5 Things

It has been awhile since Slacker Sports has had a post. I knew it was time to post something, when a person from Tennessee reports that he has placed his application in and doesn't even follow sports anymore, I knew it was time to write.

First off, Meta World Peace, you are Ron Artest, and you will always be Ron Artest. After further review, you should be out for more than 7 games, Lucky for you and the Lakers you are not.

Second: MJ, MJ, MJ! You were a force to be reckoned with, you brought intensity, you brought championships, and domination. Your Charlotte Bobcats don't even know what those words are. They won 7 games this year, the lowest winning percentage in history. What is going on MJ?

Third: If you don't watch NHL on TV, do yourself and watch a Stanley Cup Playoff game. This season so far has been exceptional. #8 LA Kings send the best regular season record team Vancouver packing early. There were 3 game 7's in the first round, and a boat load of Over time games. Its been intense, and very physical. HD TV has done wonders for NHL on TV.

Fourth: For the LOVE of MINNESOTA, will you please pass a bill to build a new NFL stadium. I grew up a Vikings fan, I love the purple and gold, don't move my team to Los Angeles. You already gave LA the Lakers, and you sent your hockey team to Dallas. Do you really want to lose your football team too? Who generates more money, the NFL or the MLB? Who brings more money to your city, the Twins or Vikings? Can the Twins host a World Series? Not Likely any time soon. But the Vikings can host a Super Bowl, and the average money brought into a city with a Super Bowl is $200-$300 million boost to to the local economy. Seems to me its a no brainier.

Fifth: This time of year gets me every time, I have been pulled into Soccer. The EUFA Cup has pulled me in and I watched last years Champion Barcelona FC lose to Chelsea and Real Madrid lost to Bayern Munich. I'm still in shock that an English Premiere team could take out Barcelona FC, especially when Barcelona made the almighty Manchester United look dumb in the EUFA Championship last year. But lets not forget that Barcelona didn't have David Villa either who is out with a broken leg. Since the US Team couldn't even qualify for the Olympics, I will be rooting with my mother in law and family for Spain to take the Gold in London.
